Central Committee
The Monroe County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) is made up of only 37 Monroe County residents. These are the 37 Democratic precinct committee people in the county. The committee people are elected by Democrats in the 37 precincts that make up Monroe County.
The MCDCC provides the overall Democratic leadership for the county on issues such as election strategy, who to endorse in elections, and local Democratic fundraising and campaign financing.
The MCDCC has officers who are elected by the other precinct committee people every two years after each primary election. The 2008-2010 officers are:
ALAN PIRTLE: Chairman, Columbia, Illinois
JON LEWIS: Vice-Chairman and Treasurer, Columbia, Illinois
GARY ROEVER: Secretary, Waterloo, Illinois
SANDRA SAUGET: County Chairwoman
The Democratic precinct committeeperson is the Democratic Party's leader and representative for the particular precinct where he or she is elected or appointed.
