Monroe County Democrat Club

Monroe County is one of the few counties in Illinois that has an active Democrat Club. The Club meets frequently and allows county residents to participate in local activities to support Democratic candidates and issues.

Anyone who lives in Monroe County may join the Monroe County Democrat Club for dues of only $5.00 per year. Out-of-county guests may also attend meetings and participate in club events, but they cannot vote on club matters.

The Democrat Club meets each month. At monthly meetings, attendees meet and socialize with local Democrats and Democratic officeholders and candidates. They also hear from officeholders and guest speakers about important issues affecting Monroe County and the entire country.

The Democrat Club provides a source of dedicated volunteers who help raise funds and support Democrats by participating in parades, volunteering at campaign headquarters in election years, going door-to-door in campaigns or otherwise helping the Democratic Party and its candidates. Club members participate in whatever activities they would like to without any obligation.

Friendships developed through the Democrat Club and its many activities are some of the most cherished friendships people can form.

The Democrat Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Metzger-Crook VFW Hall, 406 Veterans Drive, Waterloo, Illinois 62298.

The Democrat Club elects its officers at the beginning of each year. The 2010 Monroe County Democrat Club officers are:

JEANNINE BELT: Club President

GREG SWOPE: Vice-President

CLAUDETTE GILBERT: Secretary

JULIE EVANS: Treasurer
